New book release: three sexy gods in one erotic collection!

Imagine a hot Greek sex god appears in your life determined to give you – and your partner if you happen to be in a relationship – lessons in sexual desire. What would you do?

  1. Faint?
  2. Scream and go running to the nearest neighbor – or perhaps a handy bottle of wine?
  3. Tell him to begone and get back from whence he came?
  4. Welcome him in with open arms and a curious heart?

If you chose option ’4′ then you’re in good company! In the just-released GODS OF LOVE Series Bundle, three sets of lives are changed forever when the gods of desire – the erotes – decide to offer their own brand of sexual healing to modern-day people in need.

But it is not only the mortals in these stories who discover the true meaning of love. Through their interactions these three ancient gods learn that there is more to this mysterious gift called love than even they knew.

Excerpt:

Look at me, Gina.” His voice commanded, echoing around her and through her body all the way to her bones.

She did look. She had no choice; that voice compelled her to do as he bid. And what she saw filled her with awe.

His hair was moving like it was electrically charged; the eyes flashed like green beacons lighting up the golden aura surrounding them both. Green and gold. His aura. It emanated from his caramel skin, that golden light, and bathed her in warmth and a strange, drowsy kind of sexual energy. It made her want to fuck the nearest living person, but at the same time it enticed her to snuggle in to its heat. Power and desire. Strength and security. Above all, acceptance. His aura accepted her for who she was.

Disbelief, ridicule, everything negative was gone from her head as reached out a trembling hand and caressed his granite cheek. “I…” She shook her head and tried again. “I see you.”

Now it was his turn to suck in a breath. “I don’t show myself often,” he said, and the voice was no longer compelling. Instead it held a hint of uncertainty. “Ever, actually.”

She loved that uncertainty. It gave her the strength to lean in and kiss him. Beneath her lips she tasted the heart of him. A unique, delicious experience.

To taste the soul of a god.

“Then I’m the luckiest woman in the world, aren’t I?”

He nodded gravely. “You are.”

She burst out laughing, and if there was an edge of hysteria to her laughter, who the hell could blame her? She didn’t even know where they were, nor how he had saved them. Maybe she really was dead, and that would mean he was, too. Yet even in this moment, he still had that ego. It was a part of him, though, and she wouldn’t change it.

“I see you,” she said again. “And I accept you, Himeros, god of sexual desire. I accept everything about you.”

He bowed his head for a moment, then looked up into her eyes. There was raw emotion contained within that gaze. “Then  I am the lucky one,” he said.

When friends become lovers – is it a good idea?

My latest erotic romance release explores the theme of friends who become lovers and it got me thinking – is friendship really the best place to kick start a romantic relationship? Or is sex with a friend ultimately the quickest way to ruin a good friendship?

In SEX CLUB SECRETS (GODS OF LOVE 3), best friends Ella and Kade are given a helping hand toward love by Anteros, the god of unrequited love. But even with the help of an ancient god, the transition from friend to lover is not without its difficulties. Bisexual hero, Kade, is torn in two directions:

Sex Club Secrets

Jesus, God, it was like his ultimate sexual fantasy right here, seeing the two halves of his craving come together in one divine moment. Pure muscle, masculine strength, and an exciting, rock-hard body on the one side, and the familiar softness and femininity of the woman he wanted to love and cherish on the other.

But the exquisite beauty he found in the couple before him was the very reason he hadn’t spoken up before now. How could he commit to any sort of relationship with Ella if his orientation meant he might never be completely fulfilled? How can I be sure I’ll be faithful, if we end up together? How can I put her through that hurt if I can’t help but stray from the straight path? He couldn’t put her in that situation. It was just too unfair.

He leaned forward and touched the glass, spreading his fingers wide against the cool surface and wishing instead he could touch the heat of those rose-colored nipples.

What would it feel like to take one of Ella’s breasts into his mouth? What would she taste like? He ached to suckle on his friend, run his tongue over her skin, inhale her perfume and hear her moan in the way he’d been imagining in his dreams almost every night for the past few months.

Like my heroine Ella, I believe that friendship can be a beautiful place from which to build a sexual relationship. You go into it knowing the other person really well, aware that they also know the “real” you so you don’t have to pretend to be anything bigger, better, or different than what you are. Ella says at one point in the story:

I know what he is, Anteros, and I love him anyway.

If you’re already friends then presumably you have a head start on good communication, compatibility and a genuine liking for the other person – all key ingredients for a successful romantic relationship.

What do you think?

Should friends stay…just friends, for fear of losing something valuable? Or is friendship the perfect base from which to build a quality, lasting romantic relationship? Please leave a comment – we’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Sex Club SecretsThe third novella in the Gods of Love series is Sex Club Secrets, and this menage a trois story is as hot as the others! The owner of the Secrets Club is yet another drool-worthy Greek God, whose deepest desire is to satisfy those who suffer from unrequited love. He knows what they yearn for, and is determined to give it them. Add in a super-hot body, and that’s one sexy package!

Ella is young and inexperienced. She knows her heart, that she’s in love with Kade, but she doesn’t know her own sexual desires. Luckily Anteros knows exactly what she wants, and is quite prepared to satisfy her. And he knows that mind-blowing sex is not enough–she needs love too.

The author, Jennifer Lynne, has an amazing talent for blending hot sex scenes with a sweet love affair, engaging the reader on every level. Love and lust are such a potent combo! She does however, carefully omit any pertinent details about or the physical address of this oh-so-discreet Secrets Club. So while her characters are quite sated, the reader is left quite titillated. And I hear there’s one more story in this series coming soon…

SEX CLUB SECRETS: Menage a trois romance by Jennifer Lynne

SEX CLUB SECRETS, the third instalment in the GODS OF LOVE series, will be out this month. Yay! Today I wanted to share with Sexy Romance readers both the cover (designed by the talented Kim Killion at Hot Damn Designs) and a short excerpt from this menage a trois erotic romance about friends, lovers and unrequited love:

Blurb:

Sometimes love can flourish in the most unexpected places…

Ella has been in love with her best friend Kade for as long as they’ve known each other. But her love has not been returned, and when bisexual Kade shows no signs of becoming romantic toward her, she decides to call a halt on her unrequited love and try something new by accepting an invitation to a celebrated Melbourne sex club.

Kade is distressed when the woman he is beginning to see as more than a friend decides to visit Secrets before he can reveal his feelings. He follows her into the club and witnesses her at play with the enigmatic Anteros, a sexy god-like man who seems to know exactly how to satisfy her innermost cravings. But Anteros also feeds the hidden desires within Kade. How can he admit his feelings about Ella when he’s not sure he can commit with his whole heart?

Anteros is one of the erotes, an aspect of Eros and the ancient Greek god of requited and unrequited love. He has heard the call of these would-be lovers and intends to show them that friendship can sometimes be the best place to kick start a lasting romantic relationship.

But love cannot flourish unless it is returned, and how will he convince Kade – a man who occasionally enjoys other men – that he can be true to the woman he loves? What will happen to this couple when the night ends and they return to the real world outside the door of Secrets?

Has one of the gods of love finally taken on a challenge he cannot fulfil?

ADULTS ONLY (18+) Excerpt:

Little snapshots of Ella, flickering through his mind at the most inopportune moments, took his attention away from Will and he began to wonder what it would feel like to sink into her welcoming body instead. What would it be like to have her thin legs wrap themselves around him? Would her thighs hold deceptive strength in their length, just like her fingers? What noises would she make if he bent over her and slipped his tongue along her slit or curled it around her clit? Would she taste like salty passion if he used his mouth to bring her to orgasm? What would be the expression on her face if he lay back and let her ride him as hard or as gently as she liked?

Maybe she’d look something like this. His breath fogged the glass. Oops. Too close. He pulled back a little, not wanting to obscure anything about this tableau playing out in front of him.

The man she was with, the one who seemed to be looking straight at him with that knowing and slightly malicious grin, extended a hand around to tweak one of Ella’s nipples between a powerful finger and thumb. He stretched her out, hard, over and over, as if he were trying to encourage milk from a recalcitrant udder.

Did it hurt? His jaw clenched, even as the thought of white spray streaking out the end of her long pink nipples and decorating the window in front of him sent more blood racing to his dick. But then her mouth parted and her tongue flicked out to moisten her lips. God damn. She was enjoying what was being done to her.

His knees buckled and he sat down hard on one of the bar stools.

Dear God. She looks so much sexier than I could ever have imagined.

He hadn’t thought he could get any harder and yet here he was, rigid now and threatening to explode in a sea of cum just like a teenager with a dirty magazine.

Each of the GODS OF LOVE stories are designed as stand-alone novellas so the series can be read in any order. All are united with a common theme: the erotes. In this version of the erotes’ myth, my gods of love are the children of Aphrodite and aspects of the primal god of desire – Eros. Each of these gorgeous gods has a role in modern day society – answering the call of desire and interacting with people in need. Here’s what they’re saying about Book 1 and 2:

The phallic world of the ancient Greeks

Posted by Jen in Erotic Romance, GLBT, Sexy Stories on 12-09-2012

The research for my erotic romance series, GODS OF LOVE, has taken me to some interesting places. So many ancient Greek gods, so many myths, so much lust and intrigue from which to weave a story or three.

My latest WIP in the series, SEX CLUB SECRETS, has led me on a merry dance, research-wise. From a virtual tour inside a modern-day NY sex club, to articles and posts about sex toys and their uses in the ancient world. Yep. A very merry dance indeed!

Did you know that the earliest known dildo was made of stone and dates back more than 30,000 years to the late Stone Age?

To the ancient Greeks, and therefore to the gods who populate my GODS OF LOVE novellas, the penis was a symbol of fertility, even more so than a woman’s womb. In one simplified version of Greek mythology, the male god Zeus gave birth to the Olympian gods. Any wonder then, that the humble dildo, often made of leather or wood, was a popular toy for both men and women?

Called an olisbo, these phallic shaped objects feature regularly in the art of the ancient Greeks, which often show a man using an olisbo to pleasure a woman, or a woman using one to pleasure herself. Feminists have suggested that the dildo featured so prominently because the ancient Greek culture of penis worship could not conceive of sex without a phallus being present in some way.

Incidentally, olive oil, so common today in our kitchens and restaurants, doubled back then as a pretty effective lube!

This mindset of phallus worship has pervaded my GODS OF LOVE stories thus far, and will continue for now in SEX CLUB SECRETS, an erotic M/M/F novella featuring Ella, her best friend Kade, and their meeting with Anteros, the ancient god of unrequited love and one of the erotes (aspects of Eros).

This is the third instalment in the series that began in PLATINUM PASSION with Pothos, Jake and Jeannie, followed by the recently released transsexual romance, APHRODITE CALLING.

Here is a short Adult-rated snippet from APHRODITE CALLING (GODS OF LOVE #2) that illustrates this ongoing celebration of the male sex organ:

His torso was everything she had already known it would be from her brief exploration of his body a few minutes earlier. Chiseled muscle and smooth caramel skin, the nipples small and hard like decorative brown pebbles in a chest so magnificent she’d never seen one like it before outside of a cinema.

“Whoa.” She scooted onto her elbows, then sat up fully to watch as he removed the rest of his clothing. “So, you work out how many hours a day?”

He was facing slightly away from her, sliding off his underwear, revealing a tight butt and strong thigh muscles that flexed as he bent then straightened. He turned his head to stare at her over his left shoulder and her breath caught at the look of sheer desire in his eyes. He does look like a god, she thought. A sex god. How the hell did I get so lucky?

“I don’t need to work out, Gina. I am a god of love. I get all the exercise I need in other ways.”

There was no mistaking what he meant. The fire from his gaze suffused her body. He turned to face her fully, then, and the breath she was holding escaped in a gasp borne of panic and craving. He was enormous; there was no other word for it. The cock jutted out and up, fully erect. His balls beneath were large as well, but pulled up tightly near his body. Clearly he was almost ready to release himself. She remembered what that felt like.

No wonder he’s breathing so hard.

She focused on the network of veins beneath the darkened flesh and the glistening drop of pre-cum crowning his cock. She wanted to lean over and take him into her mouth, taste the juice of this gorgeous Adonis and suck him into abandon. The musky smell of impending sex surrounded her.

But the panic that edged her need refused to go away. There was no way she’d be able to take him inside her. He was just too big. He’d rip apart all the good work her surgeon had done. And yet…he looked just as she imagined a god of love might look. So tempting. So incredibly, fucking hot. So exactly what she needed to really make herself feel like a woman.

“I want to taste your cock, Himeros.” Maybe he’d come in her mouth and she wouldn’t have to take him into her pussy. She wanted to, though. Oh, lord, how she wanted to feel Himeros deep inside her body; his rock-hard dick sheathed tightly in her vagina. A man inside her properly for the very first time.

Now here’s a little Adult-rated snippet from the first novella in the series, PLATINUM PASSION:

She tried reaching out to Jake as she saw the tell-tale signs of fluid on his cock shining in the moonlight, but was pinned too effectively beneath Pothos. He was so close to coming and she wanted him inside her.

She wanted both of them sheathed inside her.

Pothos saw what she was striving for. “Come, Jake,” he said. “Join us.”

He rolled to the side, stilled impaled inside Jeannie and taking her with him, and then she felt her husband behind her, the juicy head of his cock pressing into her rear.

“Okay?” Jake’s voice was hoarse and she knew what he was really asking. This was something she’d never let him do before, and she bit her lip. Could she do this? Could she take both of them at once? Would it hurt?

“Yes,” she sobbed. “Do it, Jakey.”

And he did, gliding into her with an ease she wasn’t expecting, so slick with pre-cum that it made his entry relatively painless.

Pothos groaned, possibly at the pressure of Jake’s entry tightening her vaginal passage around him. She was so full of man she was afraid she might burst. Then they both began to drive into her body, first one, then the other, tag teaming, separated only by a thin sheath of her inner flesh, and the world as she knew it splintered around her.

Five Smoking Star Review: Aphrodite Calling by Jennifer Lynne

When my blog mate told me she had written a book about a transgendered woman, I wondered how she would approach this highly charged and difficult topic in an erotic romance. How do you as a woman enter into the head of someone who has had a sex change operation from male to female and make it feel real? I was blown away by Jennifer’s ability to get into the deep point of view of the character and to keep it erotic and heart felt. The heart of the story is really about being lonely and wanting to be loved. Himeros, one of Aphrodite’s underlings, is at a crossroad in his life as a god. He’s jaded, seen it all. Gina has decided to go to her high school reunion, not as the male she was in her teens, but as the stunning new female she has become. She, too, is at a crossroads. At the reunion, she feels overwhelmed and ridiculed and silently cries out for help. Himeros hears her call and appears at her side, sweeping her away from the gaping crowd, to a penthouse made for love. No spoilers here, but I will tell you this is hot hot hot–and heartfelt. Kudos to Jennifer for taking up this challenge and doing a magnificent job in telling the story!

A Brave New Woman: Aphrodite Calling

A brave new woman – that’s an apt description of the heroine in Jennifer Lynne’s new erotic novella, Aprodite Calling. Before I read the book, I was not sure if I’d like this transsexual woman, but as soon as I met Gina, I couldn’t help but like her. She’s strong and brave, and fragile and vulnerable, all at the same time. She’s one-of-a-kind, and yet she’s just like every one of us.

And then there’s her hunky hero. If you thought his brother was hot in Platinum Passion, look out for Himeros, he’s even hotter! This series is about the Greek gods of love, and each of them is a sexy blend of human appetites and god-like powers. Sort of super-heroes of sexuality. And of course each one has the body of, well, a Greek god!

Now how do these two fit together? Amazingly well actually–their bodies fit together as perfectly as their needs. She fills a need in him that no one else has even seen before. And he touches her in a new way, bringing her to heights she’d never dreamed of.

This story is sexy and erotic, romantic, and surprisingly sweet. In the end, it is the author who is the brave woman, giving us a new story that will stay with us long after the heat of the moment dissipates, because these two characters will reach in and touch your heart.

Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2) is available now at Amazon, Smashwords and All Romance ebooks.

Galatea, Pygmalion, Pigmalion: A Rose by Any Other Name

Posted by Sharon in Sexy Stories on 05-06-2012

Tags: , , , , ,

Like many authors, my inspiration for my short story, PIGMALION, in my new anthology, KILLER KISSES, came from an old myth. The Greeks and Romans worshiped Aphrodite and Venus, respectively. In one of the versions of the myth of Galatea, a sculptor whose heart has been broken and hardened by a bad break-up decides to sculpt the perfect woman from marble. Possessed by some unknown power, he works day and night. As he works, the marble feels warmer to his touch and what emerges from the block of stone is a woman so beautiful, she takes his breath away. He falls in love with his statue and falls asleep at its life-size feet. He awakes to a living woman who steps down from the pedestal into his welcoming arms.

Centuries later, George Bernard Shaw, revisited this myth and updated the story with linguistics Professor Henry Higgins and his flower-seller student, Eliza Doolittle. His charming and tongue-in-cheek tale is available in full text for all to read at Pygmalion. The years have not dimmed his humor. Shaw’s use of the new technology of languages and all the gadgets and scholarship available at that time are put to good use to move the story forward, all contingent, of course, on a bet. If you are old enough to remember bell-bottoms, then you know this story later became the hit 1964 musical film, My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.

Fast forward to current times and you have my version of the myth retold in PIGMALION. In my story, the professor has become a female speech-language pathology graduate student, Levisa Harris, and the language-challenged student has become an accounting student from Pigtown, Baltimore, an area well-known for its heavily accented dialect.

Whether it is Galatea, Pymalion or Pigmalion, in this rose by any other name, all of the stories focus on the transformative power of love. Isn’t that what we all want? Here’s a little snippet to tease you into reading more from PIGMALION  and the rest of my anthology, KILLER KISSES.

She rubbed against him, and her legs felt weak. She whispered, “I’ve been struggling to keep my hands off you for four months.”

“We’ve waited this long, this is going to be special—for both of us.” He nibbled at her shoulder, and began kissing his way down to the base of her neck. “Time to take this off.” Her turtleneck sweater slid up over her long curls, exposing her black camisole. “Next.” He peeled the spaghetti straps down, removed the silk lingerie, then her bra. His lips hovered over her breasts, his breath warming her, thrilling her nipples.

Levisa moaned and shuddered with anticipation. She cupped her hands under her breasts, offering them up to him with abandon. She had never been this free with a man before. She’d always felt like an observer, not really involved, when she’d made love. But this time, this man, this aching need was different.

Oh my God, I’m so in love with him!

In a nearly hypnotic state, she watched him lightly lick her left nipple and then take it into his mouth, sucking and pulling. She groaned and grabbed his firm butt, pressing hard against the outline of his erection.

“Now?”

“Not yet.” He took her nipple between his teeth, tugging lightly. Levisa gasped as his hands slid up her skirt, between her legs, and stroked her thigh a torturous inch below her silk thong. She pulled at his waistband and unzipped his pants, barely recognizing her own voice thick with lust, “My turn to drive you wild.”

“I like the sound of that.”

“Get over here,” she ordered. Slowly, intent on teasing him, she eased his jeans down. As he stepped out of the pant legs, she tiptoed her fingers down his back, beneath the waistband of his underwear, and grabbed his butt. “Did I tell you, you have a perfect ass?”

A look of surprise flickered across Sam’s handsome face; then in a in a flash, still watching his expression, she yanked his briefs down to his ankles. His beautiful penis stood at attention, long and hard, waiting to be of service.

“Oh my,” she whispered in awe. “I admire a man who’s happy to see me.”

Sexual Freedom in Greek Mythology

Posted by Jen in Erotic Romance, Sexy Stories on 22-05-2012

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

One of the most interesting aspects of the research into Greek mythology for my Gods of Love erotic romance series, has been the discovery  that the ancient Greeks did not define sexual orientation or behavior by gender. Rather, they looked at sex from a Dom/sub point of view. One person as the dominant penetrator, and the other as the submissive penetrated, regardless of gender.

Gender in fact, became almost irrelevant as sex and sexual activity did not come attached with the social “labels” that we use today – gay, lesbian or transgender, for example.

The lack of moral judgement on sexual activity, and the growth of mythologies around particular gods and goddesses as patrons of different types of love, was extremely appealing to me as an erotic romance author developing ideas for a GLBT themed trilogy that would place ancient Greek gods into a modern day setting.

Shades of…hmm, dare I say it? Yep! Grey, rather than black and white. The idea of almost infinite possibilities for love and desire, without the moral labels, intrigues me. And I’m wondering if maybe we should be taking some lessons from ancient history?

In my first story in the Gods of Love trilogy, Platinum Passion, I introduced Pothos, god of sexual yearning and one of the erotes (aspects of Eros and the children of Aphrodite, goddess of love and sexuality). Pothos visits Jake and Jeannie on the night of their twentieth wedding anniversary to fulfill Jake’s wish to experience bisexual love and to help Jeannie regain the sexual spark that their long-term marriage has been missing.

Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2), is about Himeros, god of sexual desire and brother to Pothos. He responds to the call from Gina, a post-surgery, male to female transsexual, whose desire to be accepted as a woman touches Himeros like no other call before.

The third story in this trilogy, tentatively titled Sex Club Secrets, will be about Anteros, god of requited/unrequited love, who has settled into modern life as the owner of a sex club. Anteros is a naughty boy at heart, and he has a whole lot of fun with two bisexual friends who need the blinkers removed in order to see the truth directly in front of them.

Each of these stories is a stand-alone read, but with the common theme of the erotes running as a thread throughout them all. The freedom I’ve felt in writing these varied storylines has come directly from my research, and from my discovery that not everyone throughout history has defined sexual orientation or gender in the same way that we do today.

What do you think? Can we learn something from those ancient Greeks? Do you enjoy a touch of mythology in your erotic romance, and if so, what are your favorite mythologies/myths?

Here’s a short snippet from Platinum Passion (Gods of Love #1)– a Best Book of 2011 nominee in GLBT Fantasy Romance at The Romance Reviews. It is available for only 99 cents at Amazon, All Romance ebooks and Barnes & Noble:

“Are you ready again, Jake?” Pothos asked, and he nodded.

“Yeah.” His voice was hoarse.

“Jake.” Jeannie spoke his name again, but this time with understanding. She could probably read the rampant desire in his face. Her lips parted and she asked hesitantly, “Who do you want?”

He reached for her beneath the water, felt the curve of her hip and pulled her close. She gasped when she came into contact with his cock. Hell, he felt like gasping himself, he was so ready. “I want you, Jeannie,” he said. Then he looked over his shoulder. “And I want you, Pothos. I want you to fuck me, hard, while I make love with Jeannie.”

He didn’t wait for a response from either of them, confident that the ache of desire he felt was about to be amplified by Pothos. However their new lover did it, Jake didn’t care. He just knew that this night was like no other he’d ever experienced, and the heady lust that filled his nostrils had just gotten stronger as Pothos’ eyes flashed bright and his wife let out a faint moan and shifted impatiently against him. He lifted Jeannie, taking her weight easily with the help of the water’s buoyancy, and settled her warm pussy onto his dick. She immediately wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck and clung like a limpet while she kissed him. His hands kneaded the rounded cheeks of her buttocks and he pushed up into her hot center, taking her resulting gasp into him as they continued to kiss, feeling the tip of his cock connect with her body in that deep, dark place inside her.

He broke off the kiss. “You’re mine.” He thrust again, not sure why he felt he had to stake his claim, and she let out a strangled cry.

“Always, Jake.”

Then he felt the hardness of a male body up against his back, pressing into his thighs, and he buried his face in Jeannie’s golden hair, almost overwhelmed with a mixture of fear and excitement at the realization of what was coming.

“And you’re mine, Jake,” Pothos said. “You and Jeannie. Mine.”

Here is a short snippet from my upcoming release, Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2):

She felt the zipper on the back of her dress begin to wend its way down her spine, and her breath caught when the warmth of a fingertip followed in its wake, urging the edges of her dress to slither away more easily until the material pooled at her hips. Then his lips were against her skin, branding her with heat, just at that dip where her neck melted into shoulder.

She let out a shuddering breath, one she hadn’t even known she was holding, and arched her head to one side to allow him better access. So hard to think straight, when his hands were spanning her waist like that, caressing the edge of her ribs. When his lips and tongue were doing the most incredible things up the delicate line of her neck to nuzzle in such an intimate manner at her earlobe.

“Himeros,” she whispered, as her knees threatened to buckle at the heat and the heaviness between her legs. And it felt different, this time, from what she remembered of past encounters. It wasn’t just centred in her groin, that familiar feeling of an impending explosion. It was her pussy that was hot and heavy, and aching to be stroked, yes, but she also felt the ache throughout her whole body, like a river of spreading warmth. She hadn’t realized it could feel this…damn…good

She reached back to find his hips, pull him closer in against her, wanting to share this newfound sensation of desire.

“I do desire you,” he growled in her ear. “So much.”

“I know,” she said, emboldened by these new feelings, wiggling her ass against the rock-hard core of him. “I can feel how much you want it. Me.”

She turned in his arms then, and she caught the momentary grin that lit his features before his mouth swept down to claim hers. And if she’d thought the sensations before were unique, they were as nothing to the onslaught that swept through her when his lips and tongue forced their way in to brand her with his essence. The power behind his kiss was so intense she couldn’t even respond, other than to let out a moan that he swallowed then continued on.

Demanding more.

Dominating.

Where’s the “T” in GLBT Romance?

The recent nomination for my ménage erotic romance, Platinum Passion, as Best Book of 2011 in GLBT Fantasy Romance, got me thinking.

What about the “T” in that GLBT tag? Where are all the transgender/transsexual romances?

I googled transsexual romance heroines and found only a handful of books that I would class as a romance (there are several in the straight erotica/porn field, but I write erotic romance so that’s what I’m discussing today). Why so few?

Is the issue of transgender (and its sub-category transsexualism) too removed from the wider experience to be a topic of choice for romance authors? Is it something that people feel they can’t relate to, and therefore they don’t want to tackle such a subject – either as author, publisher or reader?

The recent interest in Canadian transsexual beauty queen, Jenna Talackova, and her bid to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, has perhaps brought this topic more directly into the media spotlight in recent days. Yet I would argue it is still an extremely marginalized and misunderstood topic.

I wrote about ménage a trois and bisexuality in Platinum Passion (Gods of Love #1), yet in real life I’m not interested one bit in sharing my guy with anyone else! Hands off, ladies and gents! The book was nominated for an award, so I must have done something right in the telling of that story, even though the topic is outside my own personal experience.

Could I do the same with a transsexual (post-op) romance heroine? Could I possibly do justice to such a story and create a believable and engaging romance, when I have no direct experience of this myself?

I had already written most of Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2), but the story wasn’t grabbing me the way it should. I sat down to rewrite it, and with the LGBT label floating in the back of my thoughts, my beautiful and courageous transsexual heroine, Gina, came to life in my head. I knew she deserved no less a hero than an amazing Greek god like Himeros – someone who could accept her for who she is, as well as who she was – and help her to understand it is possible to be accepted even if you don’t fit into the mainstream idea of “the norm”.

So a bit of a rewrite for Aphrodite Calling has become a unique challenge and a whole new story, and my first transsexual romance heroine, Gina, is fast becoming one of my favorite characters.

What do you think about transgender or transsexual romance stories? Why are there so few? Is this something an author who labels herself as LGBT could be venturing into on a more regular basis? And is it something readers would enjoy? Please leave a comment – I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Here’s a taste of what is to come when Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2) is released:

He’d just told everyone in the room he was taking her upstairs to fuck her brains out. Only he’d said it slightly more poetically than that. She reached up and rubbed her temples. “That’s the last school reunion I’ll ever be able to attend!”

Himeros pouted, looking slightly put out by her response. “Would you have wanted to attend another?”

“Well, no, but that’s not the point, really, is it?”

“Why not?”

“Well, because…I don’t know, it just isn’t!”

“Aha! So you don’t have an answer, then.” His triumphant smile made her laugh again.

“Who are you, Himeros, and why are you doing this? Helping me escape, I mean. Though,” she paused and looked at the numbers flashing as they ascended in the elevator, “maybe I’m not escaping out of here, as such. Am I going from the frying pan into the fire?”

He shifted a little, and the confined space suddenly seemed a lot smaller than it had a few seconds ago. She had the impression of vibrating energy, reaching out to encompass her, and if she hadn’t known better, she would have said his tanned skin held a strange shimmer that made him seem lit from within.

“I am Himeros, god of sexual desire, and I am here to answer your call to Aphrodite,” he said. “You are most certainly heading into the fire, but this is one fire you won’t want to extinguish, once you’ve felt the heat of these flames.”

“My call to Aphrodite? What does that mean?” It’s certainly getting hot in here, she thought. Why am I so…aware of him? I’ve been around men before. Sexy men. But it’s never felt like…like my body is finally waking up…

“Gina.” When had he moved closer? Why was he now standing directly in front of her, his arms raised to press a hand against the elevator wall each side of her head? “We will wake you up…together.”

Her breath caught. He was now leaning forward, almost…almost…touching her, his face so close to hers she could see the flecks of green in the blue of his irises, so close that if she raised her hand, she’d be able to trace the angled shadows cast by those gorgeous cheekbones…

“We’re here.” His words whispered in a puff of warmth across her lips and she parted them involuntarily.

“Are we?” How she was managing to keep talking was beyond her. She wanted to close the few centimeters of distance between them and explore that mouth again, to feel the firmness of his body up against hers, to enjoy the heat of a hard cock that wasn’t her own pressing up against the soft curve of her stomach.

“You have a choice, now, Gina,” he said. “Join me here, tonight, and I promise you will not regret your decision. But if you don’t want that… tell me now, before we step over the threshold…”

“Himeros,” she whispered, knowing what she needed to say. “I want to, so much, but there are things about me you don’t know…”

“I know everything, Gina. I told you, I heard your call and I am here to answer it, if you wish.”

She shook her head. “I’m afraid.” She closed her eyes to avoid seeing the revulsion and started when she felt the touch of his fingertips on her cheek. A touch that sent shockwaves right through her body, unfamiliar shockwaves in places that had been numb for too long. She’d been wrong. She wasn’t strong enough to handle everything. She wasn’t strong enough to handle this.

“Himeros.” She took a deep breath and pressed back as far as she could against the wall. “I’m not…well…I wasn’t…” Just say the damn words. Get it over with. “I wasn’t always a woman. I used to be—”

“You were born a man, and you used to be Gerry. Now you are Gina. I know, gorgeous one. I told you, I already know. Open your eyes and see how much I want you right now.”

Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love #2) will be out soon. The first novella in the Gods of Love trilogy, Platinum Passion, is available now from Amazon and All Romance ebooks.
