#SexySnippets Outcast by Kiru Taye #PNR

snippets buttonWelcome back to Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers. It’s an opportunity for writers to share 7 sentences from their published or work on progress.

As Outcast is due to be released on Nov 1, I thought I’d share a snippet from it. In this scene, Ugo has just used her powers on Ebube and she’s feeling the after effects. I hope you enjoy it.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00066]Her eyes sparkled; emeralds blazing with the fiery warmth of the noon sunshine. She nodded and a dark shadow dimmed her smile. His chest tightened.  For a moment, Ebube found it difficult to breathe.

“Did I hurt you?” his voice croaked as he forced the words. He’d only known Ugo a short while. Yet, one certainty stood above others—he never wanted to be a cause of discomfort to her.

Leave me a comment. I love to read them. Stop by and read the other sexy snippets this week. This week I have 2 sexy snippets as I have 2 books out within a few days of each other. So please stop by Passion Shields to read a snippet from my new release, Secrets.

Have a fabulous Sunday!

Top 5 Romantic Movies Adapted From Books

With the recent fuss over Charlie Hunnam quitting the move adaption of 50 Shades of Grey, I’ve been thinking about movie adaptions of books.

Today, I thought I’d share my top five romantic movies based on books.

the princess bride poster1. The Princess Bride: A classic fairy tale with swordplay, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, giants and a pirate. This is a lovely fantasy adventure romantic comedy suitable for the whole family.

2. Out of Sight: This is a romantic crime drama about a career bank robber who breaks out of jail and falls in love with the US Marshall he kidnaps. Well, this movie has George Clooney in it. Need I say more? Jennifer Lopez isn’t half bad either.

3. Romancing The Stone: This action adventure romance is about a romance writer who goes to Colombia to ransom her kidnapped sister, only to get in a little over her head. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner are great in this as is the brilliant Danny DeVito.

Nine and half weeks poster4. Nine 1/2 Weeks: An erotic story about a woman, the assistant of an art gallery, who gets involved in an impersonal affair with a man. She barely knows about his life, only about the sex games they play, so the relationship begins to get complicated. We get to see a lovely Kim Basinger and an even handsome Mickey Rourke before the disaster of plastic surgery.

5. The English Patient: At the close of WWII, a young nurse tends to a badly-burned plane crash victim. His past is shown in flashbacks, revealing an involvement in a fateful love affair.

So what are your favourite movies that were adapted from books? Leave me a comment. I love to read them. Have a great week. Kiru xx

Doris O’Connor Does A Bunny Hop #HonorableDom #BookRelease @mamaD8

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today. *smiley face*

Excuse my excited bunny hop impression, but, you see, it’s Release day, and I’m a tad excited. Doesn’t matter how many books I write and how many release days pass, I still turn into a gibbering wreck on release day. To see your little gem of an idea out there in the big wide world for everyone else to see—well, it’s just the best feeling ever. Especially when you know it’s just the start of the adventure, as this is a series.

I do love a series, but funnily enough, I never set out to write one. They just kinda happen. As a panster I’m completely character driven, and every once in a while there are secondary characters that pop up, which are impossible to ignore. This is what happened when I wrote Auctioned to the Honorable Dom.

My heroine Laura has a complicated relationship with her brother, and desperate for his approval she has made some bad choices in her past, that have left her emotionally vulnerable. Add to that the fact that she has been in love with her brother’s best friend since knee high, and things get interesting when said best friend purchases her at a slave auction at Club Spectrum.

Plenty of delicious conflict, too much to resolve in just one book, hence a series was born. Each book will be a standalone, but I hope readers will fall in love with the characters as much as I did, and follow them on their journey at Club Spectrum 🙂

[Siren Allure: Erotic Older Hero Consensual BDSM Romance, spanking, cropping, flogging, sex toys, HEA]

A drunken dare sees Laura Anderson sign up for the Club Spectrum Auctions. A night of kinky sex with a real Dom is just what she needs. It was never meant to be with Slade Douglas, the only man she’s ever loved. The man who left her standing at her parent’s grave, and fled the country without an explanation.

Fifteen years her senior, Slade had thought her too fragile and innocent for the lifestyle then, and he made a promise to her brother to leave her alone. This time he cannot walk away, especially as Laura is not the innocent girl he remembers. She has grown into a beautiful woman, willing and able to gift him with her submission, and their chemistry cannot be denied.

As he explores her boundaries and pushes her further than she has ever been taken before, Laura flies, but their painful past may prove one obstacle too many.

There’s only one thing Slade can do…

Long and thick, his cock rested on his abdomen, and she traced a finger up the thick vein underneath, until she reached the bulbous head. His shaft twitched and hardened further under her gentle touch and she glanced up at his face to make sure he was still asleep. Her heart stalled in her chest, for Slade was watching her. One thick eyebrow raised, his gaze pinned her in place. Her skin tingled under his heated regard. Nipples firmed and her breasts grew heavy, and she squirmed on the bed and hastily withdrew her hand. Slade smirked and laced his hands behind his head in an air of nonchalance.

“Don’t stop now, petal. I find myself most curious as to what you had in mind.”

His deep voice washed over her and she let her eyes feast on the image of male perfection in front of her. From the full lips drawn up in a sinful smile, over the beard-roughened jaw, the thick neck with the prominent Adam’s apple, she let her gaze wander. Down over the width of his muscled shoulders, and the pectorals covered in a fine dusting of chest hair that narrowed over the ridges and valleys of his six pack, until it created a happy trail leading to the dark patch of hair at the base of his thick cock.

“Touch me, petal.” His voice sounded thicker than before she had started her visual inspection, and her body responded to the silken promise behind those words with a trickle of moisture between her legs. Her internal walls clenched in need, and she licked her lips when a drop of pre-cum appeared at the tip of Slade’s dick. He groaned and she bent forward, put her hands on his thighs, and then licked that slick of his essence away. Salty and tangy his unique musk filled her nostrils and she inhaled against his abdomen.

Slade’s thighs tensed under her hands, and he swore under his breath, making her smile. His skin, covering the hard muscles underneath, was silky smooth, and Laura ran her hands over the hard expanse of his tummy. Her lips followed the path her hands had already taken, and she flicked the hard little nubs of his nipples, and tugged at his chest hair.

“Naughty girl, you’re heading the wrong way.” The words were stern, but when she looked up she could see the laughter in his eyes, and something else, that turned her heart into a sledgehammer.

Slade wrapped his hand into her hair and tugged her up and close until she half lay on him. Her scalp prickled under the firm grip he had on her tresses, and her eyes closed at the first brush of his lips against hers.

He licked along the seam of her lips, and Laura sighed. Slade slipped in and took charge of the kiss with a thorough exploration of her mouth that left her breathless and needy.

She clenched her thighs to relieve the ache between her legs and Slade broke the kiss with a smile. He slapped her ass right across one of the welts leftover from last night and the residual pain zinged straight to her clit. Like sweet torture, that tiny bit of pain increased her need for him tenfold and she moaned her denial when he released her.

Slade cupped his now fully erect cock, and smiled at her.

“Beg for it, if you want it, petal, like a good little sub.”

Startled she looked up at him, and Laura swallowed hard at the intensity of his stare. Jaws clenched, Slade studied her, and her insides turned to goo at the air of command he exuded.

“Please, Sir, may I have your cock?”

Approval lit up his eyes, and Laura breathed easier knowing that she had pleased him. Never in a million years would she have thought that she would beg for a man’s cock, yet with him, here, right now, it seemed the most natural thing in the world. He stroked himself faster and Laura’s pussy clenched and unclenched in rhythm with those long fingered strokes up and down his cock. She wanted to wrap her fingers round his thick girth and swallow the renewed moisture leaking out of his slit.

“Where do you want my cock, petal? Which one of your sweet holes shall I fill?” Slade asked. He palmed one of her breasts with his free hand and squeezed hard enough to bring tears to her eyes. Sweet pain that made her more desperate for him.

“Shall I fuck your tits, petal, or your mouth?” He abandoned her breasts and ran his hand up to her throat, squeezing slightly, before he covered her mouth. His fingers dug into her jaw and he pulled her closer still, until he could nuzzle her neck. A shudder went through her and he sucked hard enough to leave a bruise. Biting down slightly, he then released her and ran his hand back down her body. He tapped her legs and Laura opened her thighs automatically.

“Good girl,” he whispered. Before she even knew what was happening, he had her flat on her back with her legs flung over his shoulders. Wide open and exposed, Laura trembled and flinched as he rubbed his stubble across the sensitive skin of her upper thighs. His hands dug into her ass cheeks, lifting her off the bed and she gasped when he slid his fingers through her wet slit and then pushed his slick thumb through her little puckered hole.

“Maybe I’ll fuck you up the ass. Would my little petal like that?”

#SexySnippets from “Five Minute Love Stories”

This week’s seven sexy lines are from a short story in the collection “Five Minute Love Stories.” This anthology contains 22 diverse stories, some sweet, some steamy, and mine is called “Three Little Words.”

FiveMinuteLoveStories   Behind her, he pulled her to standing and intertwined his arms with hers, holding her tightly against him.
“How ‘bout I take you out to dinner tonight?” he whispered in her ear.
She nodded, not trusting her words.
“Maybe we can find that little Italian restaurant we went to the first time you spent the night with me. Let’s see about that ‘putty in my hands’ business.” He lifted her clasped hands over her head and planted them behind his neck.
With her arms raised, she felt off-balance and her knit top lifted above her waist.

#SexySnippets from His Strength #MenofValor 2 @KiruTaye

KT_his strength_453x680Welcome back to Sexy Snippets, 7 sentences shared from your work-in-progress or published book, hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers.

This week I’m sharing from His Strength, the 2nd book in the historical romance Men of Valor series.

Here’s the blurb:

As a young widow, Nneka yearns to be released from the obligations to her late husband’s family, and live as an independent woman. With a past colored by a brutal father, she’ll never yield to another man willingly, and will do just about anything to attain that freedom, including flouting the laws of the land.

Ikem was unable to claim Nneka once because his lineage meant he wasn’t good enough. Now fate has given him another chance, but he quickly discovers that claiming this unpredictable wildcat is easier said than done. Will he be able to convince her that succumbing to their passion is the key to her freedom?

In this scene, Ikem visits Nneka at his home for the first time but she isn’t altogether swooning at his feet. He’s got a plan to wear her down. For how long can she resist? Enjoy the snippet.

snippets button“Liar,” he whispered before he lowered his head, but he didn’t claim her lips immediately. Instead he feathered her face and neck with kisses, alternating between nipping and licking her sweet-salty skin. Her breathing increased rapidly. When he looked up, he noticed that her eyes were closed. He licked the pulse at her neck before he trailed his lips back up and hovered above her lips. She opened her eyes and moaned softly.

“Say it, Nneka. You want me to kiss you.”

#SexySnippets Island Bound by Kiru Taye @DecadentPub #Ubuntu

It’s Kiru here and it’s my turn again to host the Sexy Snippets party on SRS. This time I’m sharing seven sentences from ISLAND BOUND, my contemporary romance. This was one of my favourite scenes to write. I hope you enjoy it.

Christy lifted her head to meet Joshua’s narrowed gaze. She couldn’t believe how unperturbed he appeared, leaning against the door post, his hands in his trouser pockets.

He stared at her with open interest. In his black irises, fire flared—intense, inviting, and lacking innocence. His poise and energy were so masculine, so feral—a predator on the hunt, toying with his prey.

What was this, anyway? How had they ended up on this collision course?

When Christy Inemi-Spiff discovers that the man she vowed to love and honor has no such feelings for her, she’s determined to cut her losses and move on with her life. A quick, quiet divorce is all she wishes for Christmas.

However, Joshua has other ideas. He’s not ready to walk away yet, especially when he doesn’t understand why Christy wants out of their marriage. So he demands she agree to spend a quiet Christmas on a remote African Island with him, hoping they can salvage their relationship. If she still wants a divorce after these two weeks, he will let her go. But not before he’s had his fill of her.

But with the sparking tension between them, and the secrets behind the disintegration of their marriage threatening to explode, will either of them get their wish? Or will this season of good will show them what really lies at the bottom of their hearts?

I like to watch…

I think the first time I realised that I like to watch was as a young adolescent. I’d taken the train to the city with some friends to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  It was Moomba (people from Melbourne will relate), which is a public holiday with a street parade. Moomba is an indigenous word meaning getting together and having fun. But I digress…

We had to risk life and limb and cross the road during the parade so we could get to The Regent theatre where the movie was being screened.  I’m pretty sure it was the year I was about 12 or 13 years old.  One of those anyway…lol.

I was having fun drooling over a young Robert Redford. I mean, seriously, who didn’t drool?  That craggy blond hair and mustache…those amazing eyes. *sigh*….then that scene. started..

You know the one…Katherine Ross arrives home to her small cottage and starts getting undressed for a bath.  Robert Redford surprises her and threatens her with a gun, forcing her to take all of her clothes off and untie her chemise.  Slowly.   Very slowly.

Oh. My. God.

My heart pounded so fast and loud I was almost deafened. I was so hot I was sure everyone beside me would be feeling the heat radiating off me. (Okay, I guess this was also when I realised that I liked a bit of Dom/Sub action too, but I didn’t have a clue what it was at the time;-)).

My life changed in that one scene.   It wasn’t just the hormones coming to the fore, it was like a switch turned on.

So now, many years later I still get off on watching.  Mostly watching from the comfort of my bed reading my favourite erotic novel, or erotic movie scenes….the feeling has never died, and now I find myself writing a voyeuristic story.  I have to say it’s making me hot!

BTW…I’ve seen that movie 12 times 🙂  I must get it out again…

So let me know…do you like to watch?  Stand up and be counted!

The perfect #sexy date – what’s your fantasy?

Ever been whisked off your feet and into a romantic date straight out of your wildest fantasies? Unfortunately I can’t say that I have, at least in recent times. Dinner and a movie is usually it for me, though there’s definitely romance on occasion, thank goodness.

A tropical island setting (Bora Bora springs to mind!) would be at the center of my ultimate romantic fantasy. There’d be a beautiful sunset, good champagne (very brut!) and a delicious dinner waiting, but first a relaxing couples massage, then private time with my gorgeous man in an open-air spa bath with views over the ocean.

Back when I wrote SEDUCING SERENA, my first erotic romance, I asked family and friends what they’d like to experience on a fantasy date. Answers varied enormously – from being hand fed strawberries and then drizzled in chocolate, to being taken on a luxury yacht for a champagne breakfast, to floating away on the breeze in a hot air balloon, to a spa bath filled with rose petals followed by a candlelit dinner cooked by someone else.

It seems that everyone I spoke with had a different idea of a fantasy date. But the one thing they all had in common was the desire to feel special, and to be treated as such, by their respective partner. And that applied to both the women and the men that I spoke with.

We all want to feel special to someone, don’t we? Especially if we are in, or just starting, a romantic relationship.

What’s your idea of a sexy and romantic date? Have you experienced the perfect date, or is your fantasy one that is yet to be realized? Please share your experiences or ideas – we’d love to hear from you!

In SEDUCING SERENA, Nick creates a number of fantasy dates for Serena in his quest to seduce her. Here’s a little taste of one involving a hot-air balloon ride and a champagne breakfast at his private winery in the Yarra Valley region near Melbourne (Australia):

Serena held tightly to the rope in the early morning darkness, feeling the flare of gas-generated heat above her head as the balloon carried their basket into the silent sky.

I must be mad!

“Ever heard of dinner and a movie, Nick? When you said you’d show me the Yarra Valley I didn’t think you meant hot-air ballooning.”

His chuckle was as contagious – and as potent – as it had been the first time they met.

“There’s no better way to experience it, sweetheart.” He moved to stand behind her, one arm coming around each side of her to grip the edge of the basket. “And there’s no need to be frightened. Pete’s the best pilot in the business.”

She glanced at the taciturn, middle-aged man in charge of their flight. “I’m not frightened,” she said. “Unless I look straight down.” Or turn around and gaze into your eyes.

“Just look over there,” he murmured in her ear, pointing briefly to the east.

She caught her breath in wonder. The sun was in the process of cresting the horizon and the rolling hills were ablaze with a mixture of gold, orange and pink. The dark pre-dawn shadows were being driven back to reveal a vista of striking emerald beauty, shrouded in random pockets with a white, swirling mist. Through it all the Yarra River wound like a long brown snake.

“Its gorgeous,” she breathed. “I’ve seen the sun come up over Uluru in Central Australia – people come from all over the world to see that – but sometimes we only need to look in our own backyards.”

“Beats dinner and a movie, doesn’t it?”

“I guess it does. But Nick, this doesn’t change anything. I’m reserving judgement on us.”

“Better than a straight-out rejection.” His quiet chuckle tickled her temple. She fought the instinct to relax back into his arms, fought the need to take comfort from his solidity in this less-than-secure environment.

For a few minutes they stayed quiet, marvelling at the view. Looking west, she could see the tiny cluster of high-rise buildings that marked the city, and a strip of darker blue along the horizon that indicated Port Phillip Bay.

Somewhere out there in the endless blue, she and Nick had first made love.

Romantic Times BOOKReviews:

“The Secrets anthologies never fail to thrill and entertain. This volume’s contemporary, science fiction and historical stories are hot and sensual. Characters are well developed, and the couples will take readers along in their path to a lasting relationship.” ~ 4 stars

Does Love Means Never Saying You’re Sorry?

Does love really mean you never have to say you’re sorry?

Well, a friend of mine told me what happened to him and his wife.  They had occasional spats, but never anything serious. Then one time, they had a really big fight. It went on for days. He told me she was clearly in the wrong, and there was no way he was going to let it go.

So I asked, “What happened?”

“She finally came to me on her hands and knees,” he replied.

I was astonished. “Really?”

“What did she say?” I had to ask.

“She said, ‘Get out from under that bed and talk to me, you coward!'”

I hope you find that story as entertaining as I did. I think that many people, especially us optimists who read romance, expect our loved ones to give us a classic apology, right out of a Hollywood movie. But that doesn’t happen in real life very regularly. Hardly ever. Okay, maybe never at all.

Really, the point of the story is to communicate about the problem. Most people don’t do something just to hurt someone they love, so there has to be more to the story. But we don’t listen very well, do we? (Wait, what did you just say?) While the other person is talking, we spend our time planning our comebacks! A great technique I just learned about is for each person to repeat back what their partner just said.

But does that mean we never have to say we’re sorry? Is love enough by itself? I sure don’t think so. We apologize to strangers and casual acquaintances for any small infraction. Most people still want to hear those words.  We need to show at least as much courtesy to our loved ones as we do to others.

But what if you’re one of those people who just doesn’t feel comfortable coming out and saying, “I’m sorry” to your loved one? Is it really necessary?

Well, there are plenty of ways to apologize without using words…

<<wink, wink>>

Love Charm for Carlotta by Carly Carson

Thank you for inviting me to your blog. I’d like to introduce you to my third short story in my Love Charm series. Love Charm for Carlotta.

Blurb: Carlotta doesn’t believe in love charms. Especially not when the bad boy hockey player from her past suddenly re-appears in her life. But the small town island atmosphere of Martha’s Vineyard conspires against her when she tries to escape him. Jace, and her memories, are everywhere she turns. Is it the love charm working, or something else? Do people change, or will she be courting heartbreak again if she succumbs to her high school sweetheart?

Carlotta owns a bakery on Martha’s Vineyard. Jace loves these rolls and thought you might enjoy the recipe.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 7 cups all-purpose flour (6 cups white; 1 cup whole wheat)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon

  1. Warm milk in a saucepan until it bubbles. Remove from heat. Let cool until lukewarm. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine yeast mixture, milk, sugar, oil, baking powder, salt, egg and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in the remaining flour, beating well after each ½ cup addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, 8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  3. Heat brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter until melted. Remove from heat; stir in corn syrup. Divide mixture between two 9×13 inch baking pans. Sprinkle 1/2 cup pecans in each pan.
  4. When dough has doubled in size, punch down and turn onto a floured surface. Roll out into a large rectangle and spread with butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Starting with the long side, roll up the rectangle into a log, and slice into 1 inch rolls. Place rolls in pans. Wrap pans with aluminum foil. Refrigerate at least 12 hours, no longer than 48.
  5. Let rolls stand in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Bake uncovered until golden 30 to 35 minutes. Immediately invert pan on serving plate. Wait for 1 or 2 minutes before removing pan.

A tip from Jace: If you like your treats to be as sweet as Carlotta is, double the ingredients in Step 3 to make more of the topping.

Jace hopped off the bike as it rocked to a stop.

“What are you doing?” Carlotta said. “I thought we were just going for a ride.”

Jace wanted to growl. Where was the girl who would have hopped off the bike, thrown her arms around him, and laughed with sheer joy? How could he find her again?

“Come on.” He pulled her off the Harley. “I want to see the breeze blowing your hair.” Actually, he wanted to see it flowing all over his stomach, but he wasn’t dumb enough to say so. Yet.

“I’ve been meaning to cut my hair,” Carlotta said.

“No way. It’s perfect.” He ran his hand lightly through her black curls. He’d enjoy the great view if he ever did get her to go down on him again.

She shivered, and he had to stifle the urge to grab her and tumble her down to the ground.

“I need to go home now,” she said.

“You used to love this beach.”

“I still come here.” She met his gaze. “Alone.”

He stepped closer and cupped a hand around her face. “Come on, Carlotta. I’ve got a whole lotta something for you.”

“That,” she said tartly, “is the worst line I’ve ever heard.”

But she didn’t step out of his reach and her eyes were sparkling again.

“You know I can be a goofball.” He touched the corner of her mouth. “I just wanted to put a smile on your face.”

For a moment, she stared at him in the moonlight. A sharp breeze blew off the water, and the surf lapped at the shore.

And then she licked his finger.

Jace caught his breath, afraid to move. He knew an invitation when he got it, but, for a moment, he was unsure of his approach. Would he scare her off if he let her see the passionate urgency that was overwhelming him? Or would he give her too much time to think if he tried a slow and gradual seduction?

“Carlotta—” he murmured. He slipped his finger into her mouth.

She sucked it in, and licked it again. While keeping her eyes fixed on him.

He thought he might come on the spot, fully clothed, while he explored her warm, wet mouth.

A lone seagull shrieked overhead, and Carlotta jerked back. She looked at him, her eyes wide. “What am I doing? I don’t even like you.”

Shit. Major check. “Of course you do, sweetie.” He bent down and kissed the side of her neck. “You’ve liked me since the day I gave you a dandelion in first grade.”

“I was easy then. I’ve grown up now.”

“So I’ve noticed.” He stroked his hands down the sides of her curvy body. “I can’t tell you how much I like your grown-up parts.” He touched the underside of her breasts.

“Jace,” she said in a warning tone. “I don’t want—”

He feathered his thumbs over her nipples and she gasped.

“You don’t want what?” he asked. He strained to keep his touch light as her nipples beaded.  The wait for her consent was torturing him.

“Carlotta?” Slowly, lightly, he continued to stroke her. She had to give in. He would die, otherwise.
